We spent four days in mid-May in this charming place. We were welcomed by Mrs. Maria as cordially as if we came to our own grandmother. Mrs. Maria cooked for us, entertained us with stories, and even looked after our baby daughter (although an attempt of putting Emilka into sleep actually ended up with sleeping Mrs. Maria, anyway she was very helpful).
The house itself is very nice, tastefully decorated, well maintained and comfortable. Our baby was sleeping downstairs in a bed which was specially purchased for it, and we - the elders, in the developed attic. The only obstacle was the fact that we were severely bitten by some obnoxious flies, because we left our windows open in the night. Therefore it would be a good idea to close the windows or pefhaps smear yourselves with some kind of an insect repellent (or maybe hosts should think about putting mosquito nets in the windows or over the beds?).
The place is definitely worth recommending to all those who desire to spend some time in a peaceful, beautiful place. In comfort, however without unnecessary luxuries. We left Dubicze Cerkiewne with a sense of tourism fulfillment and with desire to visit our „grandmother Maria” again soon.

Spending two days in Dubicze Cerkiewne is like spending a mounth in a sanatorium. Peace, beautiful silence and excellent care. It is worth to talk with Mrs. Maria. She has many interesting things to say. Being able to listen to her stories in the local dialect is simply priceless. It was great.

The foretaste of stay in Dubicze Cerkiewne on a farm "U ¯ukowei Mañki" was for us the picture of a passing landscape of Podlasie land. Previously unseen orthodox churches and cemetery monuments in blue, juicy and beautiful green everywhere, wide uninhabited spaces caused a feeling of entering with each crossed mile in an unknown, picturesque and mysterious corner of our country.
The property "U ¯ukowei Mañki" is able to please every dweller. You may come here to take some time to smell the roses and don't expect any luxuries, however soon enough you start looking for the bathroom, check whether the water is running properly, how sleeping will look like etc. It turns out that the water is not only running but also properly warmed, straight from the shower. Couches and beds with fresh linens, and those ... smells in the kitchen because the landlady Maria has just finished frying cakes of yeast, and in a moment will flood delicious potato meat dumplings with bacon.
Landlady Maria is an unusual person. She is first of all, a cheerful, witty person, who likes to share her life stories and anecdotes, but also can listen and listen to the stories of other people. She is also very tactful and never imposes herself. She is able at the right time silently to withdraw herself to her room, leaving guests with intimacy and freedom they need.
During our two short, only two-day stays in Dubicze Cerkiewne we had an opportunity to do a few trips. We visited the Bialowieza National Park /three-hour tour, but no fatigue/, a synagogue in Orla /you can ask for a guide there/, St. Mountain Grabarka /the equivalent of catholic Czestochowa/, on which there are tens of thousands of crosses, which does a remarkable impression, we also participated in the Orthodox Mass - singing of a choir there was an unforgettable experience. We also added to this many long walks in beautiful nature and interesting conversations with local people. If you go there with a group of several friends it is a good opportunity for nice evening conversations. Then you go to sleep in perfect conditions.
All that makes us encourage with conviction to visit the house "U ¯ukowei Mañki". We are planning to do this ourselves soon again.
